Dr. Janine grew up on a small farm in Wilson County, NC. She moved to Raleigh, NC to attend North Carolina State University. In 1994, she earned a Bachelors of Science in Zoology, with a minor in Genetics and a minor in Microbiology. She went on to attend North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. While there, she was active in the International Veterinary Student’s Association. She represented NCSU at several international veterinary student conferences. After serving as Treasurer for the parent International Veterinary Student Association, based in Utrecht, The Netherlands, she organized and hosted the 1998 IVSA Conference at NCSU. During undergrad and veterinary school she performed cancer research at the National Institutes of Health and Environmental Sciences as well as at the NCSU-College of Veterinary Medicine. This research culminated in a publication in the peer-reviewed journal Anti-Cancer Research. Upon graduation from veterinary school in 1998, Dr. Dismukes was recognized with a Clinical Proficiency Award and an Excellence in Anesthesia Award.

Dr. Dismukes began her career as an associate at a small animal veterinary hospital in north Raleigh, NC. This wonderful opportunity provided her with many independent surgery skills and a great foundation of veterinary medical and client communication skills. Following that, she worked as a relief veterinarian at many veterinary practices in central and eastern North Carolina. Dr. Dismukes honed her flexibility and adaptability to many different; business styles, levels of medical diagnostics, socio-economic classes and varying numbers of support staff while maintaining high-quality recommendations for the clients and their pets. She recognized the need to educate the client about the best care for their beloved pet and then work with the client by respectfully implementing the procedures for which the owners are able to proceed. After several years, she joined an excellent small animal practice in Cary, NC. This position fine-tuned her skills to investigate elusive medical cases until a definitive diagnosis and treatment were implemented.

Dr. Dismukes pursued additional training in veterinary laser procedures. She joined the Veterinary Surgical Laser Society and has taught laser labs at multiple local and national veterinary conferences, including NAVC, WVC, and AVMA. In June 2006, Dr. Dismukes sat for the laser certification exam and became one of the few certified laser veterinarians as sanctioned by the AVMA.

In May 2008, Dr. Dismukes decided to rebalance family and career. She formed a house-call practice, Mobile Laser Veterinary Services.

In May 2014, Dr. Janine married her soulmate Dave Dismukes and added Dismukes to the end of her name.

Janine has published laser surgery cases in the national journal “Veterinary Practice News” and is a member of American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.

Janine has 2 wonderful children, Alex (born in 2001) and Nicole (born in 2002). They have 5 dogs (Bucky, Maggie, Rocky, Chopper & Myla), a fish named Red & a corn snake named Swidas. Her family enjoys guitars, art, reading, moutain biking, dirt biking, boarding sports. Janine & her family try to live up to the morals and virtues of the Christian faith.

1st letter of Paul to the Corinthians, Chapter 13: 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.
